We  are  finalising  the  details  of  our series  of  talks  over  autumn,  winter  and  into  spring. The  first event  will  take  place  on  Tuesday,  13  October  2026 when  Bob  Gelfs will  talk about  his  experience  of regenerative farming.  The  talk  begins  at  7.30pm  with  doors opening  from  7.00pm  with  refreshments  available.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The  BAEG  AGM  will  take  place  on Monday,  10  November  2026,  and  will  be  followed  by  a  talk  about  public transport  issues  in  West  Dorset,  given  by  Nick  Hurrell  of  WATAG.​

 

In  2027  these  events  will  move  to  Thursdays,  with  provisional  dates  as  follows:

• 7  January  2027 “A  river  is  never  just  water”  -­‐ Vicky  Whitworth,  Friends  of  the  River Axe  and Dana Assinder,  Brit  Valley  Project

• 4  February  2027 Wessex  Water  (tbc)

• 4  March  2027 National  Trust  – Ecology  and  archaeology  on  Giant Hill,  Cerne  Abbas

• 22  April  2027 Nigel  Spring  – Butterflies

 

The  final  event  of  this  series  will  be  a  ticketed  event  over  2  dates  for  a  maximum group  of  20 people.  On  Monday,  11  May  2027  we  are  invited  to  Beaminster  Museum  to hear  a  talk  about  the Horn  Park  Quarry SSSI  geology  and  and  the  museum’s  collection  of  fossils  from  the  site.  This  will  be  followed  by  a  site  visit  to  Horn  Park  Quarry  for the  same  attendees  at  10am  on  Saturday, 15 May  2027

 

Apart  from  the  May  2027  event,  all talks  will  take  place  in  The  Pavillion  at  Beaminster Memorial Playing  Fields,  Beaminster  DT8  3BW.  The  talks  begin  at  7.30pm,  with  doors open  from  7.00pm  and refreshments  available.  Entrty  is  free,  but  we  welcome  donations (£3  suggested) towards  the  cost  of  hiring  the  hall.
